How to get to Heron Lake

Heron Lake is now closed for the 2009 Season and reopens in the last week weekend of April 2010 on 24th and 25th

Lake opening times will be the same as they have always been – 6am – 9am with the last swimming exiting the water circa 8.30am.

Don’t forget that Heron Lake is the Premier Open Water Swim Venue in the south of England. Significant donations are given to the British Disabled Water Skiing Assocation BDWSA who have there head quarters based at Heron Lake.

For any queries regarding swimming course, training, wetsuit hire, bike servicing or anything else, please contact Martyn Edwards or Rick Kiddle

Heron Lake Opening Times

We swim from 6am to 8.30am on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesday mornings from the 25th April until end of September 2009.

Heron Lake might be opening on Tuesdays, but this will depend on demand for Wednesday swimming this seems to be the most popular day to swim.

Last entry to the lake is at 8am, exit the water by 8.30 to vacate the premises for 9am, to allow the disabled water skiers to have full access.

Please note: The above times must be adheared too as the lake is only available to us until 9am.

Heron Lake Prices

£5 per person, per session.

£35 for a 10 session card purchase.

£300 for a 100 session card purchase.

All the cards can be purchased at the gate in the morning. If you do so, please be aware that other vehicles will be entering and exiting the lake. Park up just after the gate to one side. Alternatively you can send a cheque, made payable to “Heron Lake Swimmers” and send it to Heron Lake Swimmers, 17A The Arches, Windsor, Berkshire, SL4 1RH.

The session cards were extremely popular last year, as it meant that clubs and individuals not only save money, but it helped with the queues going out of the gate.

Waiver Disclaimer Form

We have been asked by our insurance to get everyone to fill out and complete a new Waiver Disclaimer Form click here to download. Please complete this form to save time on the gate. If you can forward it onto any one that you know will be coming for a swim, this again will save a huge amount of time when entering the lake.

Wetsuits

Wetsuit Testing – Try before you buy

If you are looking to improve your swim times, but also get the best experience out of your swim leg or your triathlon, we recommend that you get yourself kitted out with a decent wetsuit, so why not come down to the lake and try before you buy.

Wetsuit testing is charged at £15 per test.

We will take off any testing money from that morning’s session on the purchase of a suit

We want to make sure that we offer you the best service available. Offering a wetsuit testing service is something that other stores are not able to provide.

Heron Lake is proud to be associated with the worlds best Manufacturers of wetsuits Orca, who will be on hand every weekend at the lake to try and test out the latest wetsuits on the market. There will also be an opportunity to try out Blue Seventy and Aquasphere wetsuits throughout the season.

Aquasphere is also the main supporter of swimming goggles. They are number one in open water swimming and triathlon swim accessories.

SBR SPORTS is the Official Retailer at the lake. They do not hire wetsuits for the season or one off events, as 99% of the time most people buy a wetsuit and use it, not only at the lake, but also for the whole season.

Open Water Swimming Races

We had a lot of people asking about practicing their race swim times and race start simulation. Every Saturday at 8am there will be a 1 lap around the lake race. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Over a 10 week period everyone’s times will be logged and race leader board will be put up at the lake to see who is winning. To enter the 10 races will cost £20 or £2.50 per race. If you enter the series you could win up to £500 worth of kit from Rick Kiddle Coaching, Aquasphere Wetsuits and SBR Sports. For more information, please ask at the lake information point. The first race will not be until the second week of the lake opening.

Throughout the year there will be some advertised evening swimming dates TBA. If you are looking for evening swimming or a small event to get race sharp please visit www.f3events.co.uk which will have some regular swims and events at Dorney Lake.
